Features of the structural design included:

The building was in excess of 100 years old and the subject of a heritage preservation order.

Original design documents were not available and forensic engineering techniques were employed.

Removal of internal columns to increase spaces required close consultation with builders.

As all work was by hand, temporary supports needed to be positioned to allow men and materials access  in awkward circumstances.

Existing parapets needed to be strengthened to comply with current codes.
