Helensburgh Railway Station, Helensburg NSW

The work was undertaken under a Design and Construct contract. The solutions to the on-site challenges were developed in conjunction with Arenco (NSW) Pty Ltd, the builders, and included the following:

A particular challenge was that the site was overlain with up to 9.0m of uncontrolled fill.

In conjunction with advice from geotechnical engineers, permanent steel liners were adopted to provide ground support during construction of the piers that were founded on rock.

Pedestrian traffic had to be maintained at all times. GW Engineers and Arenco developed and adopted the use of on-site, pre-cast concrete slab and beam elements for the pedestrian crossing that were lifted into place at times convenient and not disruptive to pedestrian use.
