St Catherine’s Nursing Home, Eastwood NSW

 Two foundation design options were examined:

Internal and external pier and beam.

External pier and beam and internal flat slab on piers.

The flat slab system was selected as it provided superior cost and time benefits in soils that highly reactive. (class H).

Eliminated retaining walls by battering the site and suspending the top slab thereby reducing costs.

Developed structural details that significantly assisted the architect in finalising architectural details.

Examined four retaining wall options allowing the best value option to be constructed.
