Hyrock, Port Kembla NSW
Hyrock needed the rapid and cost effective delivery of infrastructure to receive, store and load copper concentrate.
The challenge for GWE included obtaining statutory approvals and meeting infrastructure and operating cost projections not withstanding the difficult geotechnical and site access conditions.
GWE met the challenge by designing a 31t shipping container rollover and discharge machine to maximise rail unloading efficiency and designed a floating and articulated floor slab to accommodate ground movement.
Re-use of existing equipment to save costs was adopted as a strategy for achieving infrastructure and operating cost efficiencies.
Shipping demurrage costs were reduced by half.
GWE were the recipient of an Australian Bulk Handling Award for this project.
