Mining Coal

GW Engineers has been involved with the coal industry for 25 years, with many of the senior engineers having experience in the industry significantly in excess of that period. Following the establishment of GW Engineers in 1980 one of the very first projects GW Engineers was involved with was for BMCH for the Warkworth Coal Mine in the Hunter Valley where GW Engineers completed the structural design of the CPP as well as the surge bins and many of the conveyor systems. In addition GW Engineers were involved with the mechanical design of a number of the conveyors transfers in both the raw coal and product coal systems. GW Engineers also completed the structural design for both the Ulan and Ravensworth CPP’s and extensions to the Wambo CPP. In addition, at Wambo, GW Engineers completed the design for an upgraded raw coal feed system and new product coal stockpile pad and skyline conveyor. Since that time GW Engineers has provided a complete range of mechanical, electrical, structural, civil design and project/construction management services covering various sized projects at coal mines extensively in the Hunter Valley but also in other areas of NSW as well as Queensland and Indonesia.
